Taiwan Legislators Visit Oil Well in Block M, Brunei

 

 

Vice President TSENG YUNG-CHUAN, together with five legislators CHU FONG-CHI, PAN WEI-KANG, TING SHOU-CHUNG, TSAO ERH-CHUNG and LIN CHIEN-JUNG of Taiwan Legislative Yuan visited the oil and gas investment project of PPIG in Brunei on Sept. 5th. During this visit, they not only listened to the briefing of Tap, the Operator of this Project, but also actually made a visit to the first well with a round trip of 3 hours. Even though the weather was poor, TSENG YUNG-CHUAN and other legislators still got off the car to visit the first well spud in on Aug. 26th in Block M at the nearest distance.

 

Today, I have a chance to see such wonderful oil field in Brunei, and China (Macao) Sino Oil Company Limited holds such investment case, which spurs me to believe that such can be fully taken advantage of in oil resources field due to limited reserves in the future.” TSENG YUNG-CHUAN said. He even proposed that under the situation that the global oil and gas resources were limited, more attentions should be paid to motivate cooperative possibilities between Macau and Taiwan in the resource business.

 

Legislator Chu Fong-Chi expressed that, “I think the exploitation of this Block will contribute lots to the whole energy supply, and since Taiwan and Macau are brothers of one blood, I hope we can strengthen the cooperation in this respect.”

 

Since 2006, China (Macao) Sino Oil Company Limited has being carried out explorations on Block M in Brunei. The first well was spud in on August 26th, which records as the biggest spud project of onshore oil of Brunei in recent years.

Recently, Macau and Taiwan work closely with each other. In the MCSAR Policy Address of this year, full communications between Macau and Taiwan are emphasized. Besides the Macau Week held in Taiwan recently to expand culture and economic exchange, the legislators of Taiwan Legislative Yuan have visited the hydrocarbon investment programs of Macao companies in Brunei, and has recognized the cooperative possibility of two sides in energy business.
