Transportation collapsed in San Miguel city,
and relief supplies can only be carried with small boats.

Due to worldwide climatic anomaly, since January of this year, there has suffered from heavy rains for days in the Philippines, which has led to disaster in various regions, among which the situation in Surigao del Sur, Mindanao Island is even more severe. San Miguel, where the coal mine of Great Wall Mining and Power Corporation locates, is also intruded by flooding. Its urban area is submerged by 1.8 meters deep. All vehicles are not available, so only small boats can be used to transport stricken people and reliefs.

A lot of houses near the banks of rivers have been rushed away wholly by flooding, so homeless stricken people flee to high positions. Most of their belongings are washed out by water, so their likelihood is a matter of great urgency now and the reliefs and helps from Government and non-government organizations are greatly needed.

In this regard, Great Wall, always putting herself into the skins of others, stretches out a helping hand once she is informed of the news and purchases rice, noodle and other foods instantly and distributes them to the stricken people in two villages and mountainous area where her coal mine locates, in cooperation with the rescue activities from Local Government Unit (LGU). 1 ton of rice and 30 boxes of noodle and non-stable foods, etc have been purchased and distributed by Great Wall to nearly 350 families, totaled at about 1000 victims being able to temporarily survive the heaviest flooding in recent years.

Due to flooding intrusion, many infrastructures in Surigao del Sur and San Miguel, including roads, bridges, water and power supply, etc have been destroyed to certain extent. It is estimated that the evaluation and restoration plan by LGU can only be commenced after the rainy season in March is over when the flood would have receded.
