CIMP’s IEC Campaign in Cebu Well-site Ended Successfully and Spudding Expected on Schedule
On March 12, 2012, China International MiningPetroleum Co., Ltd. (CIMP), a subsidiary of Polyard Petroleum International Group Limited (PPIG), successfully completed its Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign in Alegria, Cebu, making a stride toward the spudding date.

During the 12-day IEC campaign, CIMP’s IEC team,together with officials from the Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines,presentedthe SC 49project and its progress to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia, Vice Governor Agnes A. Magpale and Alegria Mayor Emelita Guisadio respectively. Government officials at all levels expressed their concerns and gave supports to theproject. Theyalso hoped that CIMP can makesignificant oil&gas discoveries and enter the commercial production phase at the earliest moment possible so as to create a win-win situation for the oil&gas exploration and development market of the Philippines.

IEC team and DOE officials meet Alegria Mayor

  

 

This IEC campaign consisted of three stages.The provincial council IEC was hosted byCebuViceGovernor, while the municipal councilIEC was led by Alegria Mayor. After these two events, Alegria Mayor, Vice Governor, former Mayor and some council membersaccompanied CIMP’s IEC team to visit Barangay Montpeller where the SC49 exploration and drilling project is located and underwent the IEC campaign with villagers.

 

During the IEC campaign, CIMP’s Chief Operating Officer Al Stawicki led his team members to give detailed explanations on such issues of concern by council members and local villagers as environmentalimpact and source water protection under the assistance of DOE officials. Mr. Stawicki and DOE officials later received an interview respectively by Sun Star Daily Cebu.

Mr. Stawicki told Sun Star Daily Cebu that if the analyses on drilling and testing results reveal that a single wellcanproduce 100 barrels of oil on a daily basis, this will be considered commercial quantity andCIMP willbring in extraction equipment to proceed with a production phase.

 

Director Antonio Labios from Visayas Field Office (VFO), DOE, one of the participants in the IEC campaign, said CIMP’s contract in Alegria extends in the course of 25 years. Engr. Edgardo Amante of the Energy Research Development and Utilization Division, DOE,disclosed that the local government can take 60% share of the benefits, and of which, 20 percent goes to the Province, 45 percent to the municipality and 35 percent to the barangay.

Competentauthorityof the Philippines,DOE, Cebu provincial government, Alegria municipal government as well as local residents of Barangay Montpeller all warmly welcome the IEC team members and rendered their recognition on the project.

At 4:00pm on March 6, 2012, local villagers voted unanimously to favor CIMP’s exploration and drilling activities in Alegria. The IEC campaign concluded with great success.
