Achievements

As a scientific institution engaging in research and development of geophysical exploration and geochemical testing technology and comprehensive research of petroleum geology, the lab has made distinguished contribution to “terrestrial genesis of hydrocarbon theory”, “genesis theory of natural gas”, “reservoir formation dynamic theory”, “pre-stack depth migration processing technique” and “hydrocarbon generation and reservoir formation theory of pre-Cenozoic” in China. Since 2004, the Lab has taken on over 200 scientific research tasks, among which 110 national projects and 95 oilfield projects are included. From 2004 to 2008, it had 582 academic thesis published on academic publications both at home and abroad, including 171 SCI papers ( 97 international papers and 74 domestic papers)and 45 EI papers .

The Lab specializes in seismic data processing  and  interpretation  method  research  and  its  application. The finished workload of Lab up to 2006 is as follows:
1.15000sq.km. of 3D conventional (including site processing) processing
2.7500sq.km. of 3D Pre-stack depth migration
3.4000 sq.km. of 3D Pre-stack time migration
4.65000 km. of 2D tackling processing of the complex areas(including 2D Pre-stack migration)
5.9500 sq.km. of seismic interpretation, inversion and comprehensive geological research(target evaluation, etc.)

In respect of technical innovation, the Lab moves on with numerous successful cases. In 1997, a new petroleum accumulation zone of Futai Oilfield was found with 3D PSDM processing of Che No.3 Area, Shengli Oilfield completed by the lab in 1997, which contributed to the most substantial discovery of the exploration of Shengli Oilfield in mid-and-late 1990s. In 1999, by studying the 3D PSDM data processed by the lab to carry out the deployment, Well Shenghai Gu 2, an offshore well with oil production as much as kilotons was successfully drilled in Shengli Oilfield. “3D-seismic data linking treatment of Huimin Depression”, a project completed in 2002 with the largest data area onshore at that time in China even shocked professionals from the industry at home. From 2002 to 2003, our lab was awarded the tender for "2D seismic data processing program in the eastern block of Qaidam Basin" of AGIP Petroleum Cooperation by ranking 1st in the Technical tender evaluation. From 2003 to 2004, the "Xuanhan-Daxian" 3D data processing for SINOPEC, Southern Branch based on the innovative method of "Floating datum PSTM" developed by the lab itself was thought highly by such entrusting party. In 2004, our proposed recommendation was adopted by the entrusting party in the completed project as "Formation conditions of oil reservoirs in the middle division of eastern depression and lead inventory evaluation", with 3 appraisal wells deployed accordingly and the 1st one procured high oil production during testing. New energy production block has been built in 2006. From 2005 to 2006, the Lab had dealt with the processing, interpretation and technical projects for more than 20 pieces each year, with all the results were to the satisfaction of our clients.
